Remembering Pine River’s Spurrier Hotel

$30A SPECIAL PINE RIVER EVENT SPONSORED BY HERITAGE GROUP NORTH!
You are invited to attend a re-enactment of the original Opening Banquet of the Spurrier Hotel in Pine River! The event will be held at Bites Grill & Bar with social at 6:00 P.M. with the meal being served at 6:30 P.M. The dinner will consist of the same types of food as was served on April 27, 1918!
Committee members will be dressed in 1918 period clothing and guests are welcome to come dressed in 1918 fashion if they would like.
Land developer W.A. Spurrier and his son W.A. Spurrier built the three story hotel on the corner of Hwy. 371 and Barclay Ave. for a cost of $30,000. Everette “Pop” Evans started construction during Pine River’s boom time in 1917. Later the hotel was named the Lake Region Hotel and was owned by Charles and Gertrude Hughes.
