PAUL BUNYAN SCENIC
BYWAY RECEIVES NATIONAL SCENIC BYWAY STATUS!
 Pine
River is the northwestern most community along the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway. Maps
of the byway are available at the Pine River Information Center. The maps explain
the history of the byway as well as points of interest along the byway. The byway
can be accessed by car, bike or foot travel. Discover the legend and lore of the
Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway on your next trip to this part of northern Minnesota!

Pine River Depot
Restoration Project Update April 12, 2008

Progress
may be being made on the move and restoration of the historic Pine River Railroad
Depot! Through a combined effort of the Minnesota Department of Transportation,
the City of Pine River, Cass County, the Pine River Chamber of Commerce and Heritage
Group North, funding has been approved that will move and begin the restoration
of the depot in the year 2008! Exciting news for Pine River!

The Pine River Depot is number 30 on the list. Its web page presents some reasons for restoring the
depot, a glimpse at the project’s history thus far, the vision for the depot restoration

webpage will be updated as progress is made toward the ultimate goal of depot

CHAMBER INFORMATION CENTER FLOWERS PLANTED
BY LOCAL GIRL SCOUTS
 Local
Girl Scout Leader Marie Simek and two Girl Scouts from Troop 410, Amanda and
Kaylie, planted flowers beside the flag pole at the Pine River Information
Center on May 19. The flowers are always enjoyed by visitors and users
of the Paul Bunyan Trail in Pine River!

MISS PINE RIVER & COURT CROWNED!
 Miss
Pine River 2008 Castona and her Court consisting of Princesses Savannah and
Erin and Miss Congenality Michelle were crowned at the 29th Annual Miss
Pine River Scholarship Pagent on Saturday evening, April 5 at Pine River!
The young women will represent the Pine River Chamber of Commerce at numerous
community festivals and events in the coming year!

ANNUAL LAKES BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 21-24, 2008

The
6th Annual Lakes Bluegrass Festival is set to kick off August 21st through August
24th, 2008 at the Cass County Fairgrounds in Pine River! After last year's
stunning success, the festival looks forward to inviting both new performers and
bands that have proved popular in the past. Check out the festival website

River and Pine River Township were recently notified that their applications
for a number of Minnesota JOBZ zone parcels had been approved. The JOBZ zone program
carries with it many business incentives for new job producing industries, mainly
in outstate areas of Minnesota. You may access information on the program and

PAUL BUNYAN'S BABY BOOTS ARE BIG
ENOUGH FOR TWO!

Bailey and little sister Gracie try out the famous
"Paul Bunyan Baby Boots" at the Pine River Information Center. From
all accounts, these are the only baby boots of Paul's to be found anywhere. All
visitors are invited to try them on and take a picture! Paul
